TBR Book Tag

Okay, switching things up a smidge today — Lat from Latitude's Library tagged me in this super-fun tag/meme, and I have always always ALWAYS wanted to be tagged in one of these! So I'm doing it :) Strap on your seatbelts, kids, we're talking TBRs (to-be-read piles)!!

How do you keep track of your TBR pile?

Cracks knuckles oh boy do I have a tale for you! I use Notion to keep track! I split my reading up by format, so owned hard copies of books is one category, Netgalley Kindle eARCs is another, and Kindle books I bought myself is a third!

Then, I have a list for each category in Notion and I literally write down all my books in the order in which I want to read them. That order ideally goes something like: regular YA, adult and/or nonfiction, Book of the Month selection, and then sequel/anthology.

And then I alternate reading based on format! It's super complicated, makes no sense, and I LOVE MY LIL SYSTEM!

Is your TBR mostly print or ebook?

It is split like 60% ebook, 40% print. It veers a little more toward ebook simply because I love to use Netgalley and buy Kindle books on sale.

How do you determine which TBR book to read next?

I am not opposite of a mood reader because I made up a list like a year ago and just stick to it.

A book that's been on your TBR the longest?

My Goodreads TBR shelf is very outdated, because I created in 2014 and like that was a whole different era of books, but I did comb through and find this one. Maya Angelou's autobiography/memoir I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings has been on my list since July 2014.

A book that you recently added to your TBR?

Just the other day I heard about a travel memoir by Jami Attenberg called I Came All This Way to Meet You so I added it to my Goodreads on Mar. 19, 2022.

A book on your TBR because of its beautiful cover?

This is a cheat, because this book is actually on my TBR because it sounds amazing, but the cover for Susan Lee's debut YA Seoulmates was recently revealed and I find it absolutely stunning.

A book on your TBR that you never plan on actually reading?

I'm pretty sure I put Steve Jobs' memoir on my TBR at one point in 2014. I should take it off. No offense to Steve, I'm just...not going to read it.

An unpublished book on your TBR that you're excited for?

I have been waiting for the sequel to Tracy Deonn's Legendborn since like July 2020. That book wrecked me, the ending destroyed me, and I can't believe I'm still standing.

So obviously the only answer to this question can be and has to be Bloodmarked! It doesn't come out until NOVEMBER 9, 2022, which is forever from now but it's gonna be worth it!

A book on your TBR that basically everyone has read except for you?

I really can't think of one for this???

A book on your TBR that everyone recommends to you?

This is a new addition because a handful of my VCFA classmates have recommended this to me lately. I haven't read it yet because I only just started reading middle-grade, but I'm excited to get to it soon!

A book on your TBR that you're just dying to read?

Okay this one feels like it's been on my TBR for so long, but really it's only been about two years: Dangerous Alliance by Jennieke Cohen, which is a YA historical romance that's set during the time of Pride & Prejudice and whose main characters reference the book! It sounds like a super fun romp and I can't wait to get to it!

The number of books on your Goodreads To-Be-Read shelf?

It's not that bad! Just 1,784. Could be a lot worst, tbh!
